In late November, a group of 69 parents and teachers sent a letter of concerns to the Superintendent of APS, the APS Special Education Department, the APS Board of Education, and NM PED representatives regarding the changes APS has made over the past several months to gifted education and the lack of transparency with their policies. We made specific recommendations to improve communication between the community of gifted parents, teachers, and District administrators and asked them to respond by mid-December.
We were pleased to receive a response, but have continued concerns with the response itself. You can access the original letter we sent as well as Superintendent Reedy's response below.
I encourage you all to remain vocal or to start voicing your concerns directly to APS and the NM PED about the education your children are receiving. AAGTS is working with past APS Gifted Advisory Committee members and other interested persons to keep in contact about issues and to afford an avenue for group communication with APS. We appreciate your support.
